There are about 227 thousand pupils in Vienna’s schools, of whom more than 110 thousand children and juveniles do not have German as their mother tongue. Almost half of these live in socially disadvantaged families who need our help.

A platform created by citizens for citizens

We have created an infrastructure that provides a constructive learning environment for children from socially disadvantaged families, granting them free tuition, whilst honoring their individual needs. We have programs and support models in place that well exceed the time and human resources of equivalent state institutions. We offer individual tuition, integration advice and support for schoolchildren who are troubled in their current school situation.
Our centres in Simmering and Kagran are open 6 days a week, supporting self-driven learning initiative in pupils with problems at school. The WIENER LERNTAFEL functions simply, sustainably and efficiently. With an annual budget of 300 thousand Euros we are able to support more than 500 children monthly. Our honorary tutors make a valuable contribution, helping children of families with a low education profile to reach the education standards required for positive future development.

Facts & Figures

There are about 227 thousand pupils in Vienna’s schools, of whom more that 110 thousand children and juveniles do not have German as their native language. Almost half of these live in socially disadvantaged families. In most cases the children’s parents are unable to deal with tutorial requirements – with the result that their children linger in an environment which offers little perspective for a decent education.
An official BiFi survey (2013) on achievement in mathematics, carried out in primary school 4th Grade, showed that 16000 immigrant, and 8000 non-immigrant children failed to reach the required standard, while more than 11000 immigrant and 7000 non-immigrant children made the grade only partially. THIS is why we do what we do!
